Band Kneeling Twisting Crunch

Start by kneeling on the floor with a resistance band looped around a stable anchor point behind you. Place the band under your feet, crossing it over. Interlace your hands and place them behind your head. Sit back onto your heels while maintaining tension on the band. Your torso should be upright and your core engaged. From this starting position, exhale and twist your torso to one side, bringing your elbow towards the opposite knee while keeping your hips stable. Inhale and return to the starting position, keeping your core engaged throughout the movement. Repeat the twisting motion, alternating sides, while maintaining tension on the resistance band and focusing on the contraction in your core. Continue performing the band kneeling twisting crunch for the desired number of repetitions.

  3. Reset. Reverse the movement under control and reset between repetitions, keeping your form crisp on every rep.

Coaching cues

  • Move with intent — every rep should feel deliberate, not rushed.
  • Drive force through your abdominals rather than momentum.
  • Keep your breathing steady: exhale on the hard part, inhale on the reset.

Common mistakes

  • Using too much weight and losing positional control.
  • Cutting the range of motion short and missing the target muscle.
  • Letting your spine round or hyperextend instead of staying neutral.
