Boxing Left Uppercut (with partner)

Body WeightIntermediate

Stand in a boxing stance facing your partner. Keep your feet shoulder-width apart and your knees slightly bent.

As you prepare to throw the left uppercut, rotate your hips and pivot your left foot. Extend your left arm upward in a quick, controlled motion.

  1. Start with your fists up, protecting your face.
  2. Drive your left fist upward, aiming for your partner's chin.
  3. Follow through with your punch, then return to your guard position.

  1. Set up. Set up in a stable, balanced starting position appropriate for the Boxing Left Uppercut (with partner) using your body weight.

  3. Reset. Reverse the movement under control and reset between repetitions, keeping your form crisp on every rep.

Coaching cues

  • Move with intent — every rep should feel deliberate, not rushed.
  • Drive force through your working muscles rather than momentum.
  • Keep your breathing steady: exhale on the hard part, inhale on the reset.

Common mistakes

  • Using too much weight and losing positional control.
  • Cutting the range of motion short and missing the target muscle.
  • Letting your spine round or hyperextend instead of staying neutral.
