Pike-To-Cobra Push-Up

Start in plank position with your hands directly under your shoulders and your feet hip-width apart. Engage your core, squeeze your glutes, and maintain a straight line from head to heels. From this position, lift your hips up towards the ceiling, forming an upside-down V shape with your body. Slowly lower your body down towards the ground, bending your elbows and keeping them close to your sides. As you lower down, allow your chest to touch the ground while keeping your hips raised. Push through your hands and engage your chest, shoulders, and triceps to press your upper body up towards the ceiling, extending your arms fully. At the top of the movement, arch your back and lower your hips back down to starting position. Repeat for the desired number of repetitions.

How to perform the Pike-To-Cobra Push-Up

  1. Set up. Set up in a stable, balanced starting position appropriate for the Pike-To-Cobra Push-Up using your body weight.
  2. Brace and execute. Brace your core, control the descent, and move through a full pain-free range of motion while emphasizing your abdominals.
  3. Reset. Reverse the movement under control and reset between repetitions, keeping your form crisp on every rep.

Coaching cues

  • Move with intent — every rep should feel deliberate, not rushed.
  • Drive force through your abdominals rather than momentum.
  • Keep your breathing steady: exhale on the hard part, inhale on the reset.

Common mistakes

  • Using too much weight and losing positional control.
  • Cutting the range of motion short and missing the target muscle.
  • Letting your spine round or hyperextend instead of staying neutral.
