Reverse Warrior Pose

Body WeightIntermediate

Reverse Warrior Pose enhances flexibility and strength in your legs and core. It promotes balance and stability while opening the hips and chest.

  1. Start in Warrior II Pose with your right foot forward.
  2. Extend your right arm forward and your left arm back, keeping your torso upright.
  3. Bend your right knee and lower your left arm down towards your left leg.
  4. Reach your right arm overhead, creating a long line from your left foot to your fingertips.
  5. Hold the pose, breathing deeply, then switch sides.

How to perform the Reverse Warrior Pose

  1. Set up. Set up in a stable, balanced starting position appropriate for the Reverse Warrior Pose using your body weight.
  2. Brace and execute. Brace your core, control the descent, and move through a full pain-free range of motion while emphasizing your primary working muscles.
  3. Reset. Reverse the movement under control and reset between repetitions, keeping your form crisp on every rep.

Coaching cues

  • Move with intent — every rep should feel deliberate, not rushed.
  • Drive force through your working muscles rather than momentum.
  • Keep your breathing steady: exhale on the hard part, inhale on the reset.

Common mistakes

  • Using too much weight and losing positional control.
  • Cutting the range of motion short and missing the target muscle.
  • Letting your spine round or hyperextend instead of staying neutral.
