Right Uppercut. Boxing

Body WeightIntermediate

The right uppercut is a powerful punch used in boxing to target your opponent's chin or jaw. It is executed with a quick, upward motion.

  1. Stand in a boxing stance with your feet shoulder-width apart.
  2. Keep your elbows close to your body and your hands up to protect your face.
  3. Rotate your hips and shoulders as you drive your right fist upward.
  4. Follow through with the punch, aiming for your target.
  5. Return to your guard position after the punch.

How to perform the Right Uppercut. Boxing

  1. Set up. Set up in a stable, balanced starting position appropriate for the Right Uppercut. Boxing using your body weight.
  2. Brace and execute. Brace your core, control the descent, and move through a full pain-free range of motion while emphasizing your primary working muscles.
  3. Reset. Reverse the movement under control and reset between repetitions, keeping your form crisp on every rep.

Coaching cues

  • Move with intent — every rep should feel deliberate, not rushed.
  • Drive force through your working muscles rather than momentum.
  • Keep your breathing steady: exhale on the hard part, inhale on the reset.

Common mistakes

  • Using too much weight and losing positional control.
  • Cutting the range of motion short and missing the target muscle.
  • Letting your spine round or hyperextend instead of staying neutral.
