Tiger Yoga Pose

Body WeightBeginner

The Tiger Yoga Pose enhances flexibility and strengthens the core. It promotes balance and focus while stretching the spine and hips.

  1. Begin on all fours with your wrists under your shoulders and knees under your hips.
  2. Inhale as you arch your back, lifting your head and tailbone towards the ceiling.
  3. Exhale as you round your spine, tucking your chin to your chest and drawing your belly button in.
  4. Hold each position for a few breaths, then switch between arching and rounding.

How to perform the Tiger Yoga Pose

  1. Set up. Set up in a stable, balanced starting position appropriate for the Tiger Yoga Pose using your body weight.
  2. Brace and execute. Brace your core, control the descent, and move through a full pain-free range of motion while emphasizing your primary working muscles.
  3. Reset. Reverse the movement under control and reset between repetitions, keeping your form crisp on every rep.

Coaching cues

  • Move with intent — every rep should feel deliberate, not rushed.
  • Drive force through your working muscles rather than momentum.
  • Keep your breathing steady: exhale on the hard part, inhale on the reset.

Common mistakes

  • Using too much weight and losing positional control.
  • Cutting the range of motion short and missing the target muscle.
  • Letting your spine round or hyperextend instead of staying neutral.
