Sled Closer Hack Squat

1. Place the sled on a flat surface and load it with an appropriate amount of weight. 2. Position yourself behind the sled, facing away from it. 3. Position your feet shoulder-width apart on the sled platform, toes pointed slightly outward. 4. Bend your knees and lower your hips down, keeping your chest up and core engaged. 5. Push through your heels and extend your legs, driving the sled forward. 6. Continue pushing the sled forward until your legs are fully extended. 7. Slowly reverse the movement by bending your knees and bringing the sled back towards you. 8. Repeat the movement for the desired number of repetitions, maintaining proper form and control throughout the exercise.

How to perform the Sled Closer Hack Squat

  1. Set up. Set up in a stable, balanced starting position appropriate for the Sled Closer Hack Squat using your sled machine.
  2. Brace and execute. Brace your core, control the descent, and move through a full pain-free range of motion while emphasizing your glutes.
  3. Reset. Reverse the movement under control and reset between repetitions, keeping your form crisp on every rep.

Coaching cues

  • Move with intent — every rep should feel deliberate, not rushed.
  • Drive force through your glutes rather than momentum.
  • Keep your breathing steady: exhale on the hard part, inhale on the reset.

Common mistakes

  • Using too much weight and losing positional control.
  • Cutting the range of motion short and missing the target muscle.
  • Letting your spine round or hyperextend instead of staying neutral.
